Wellness Program and Strength and Conditioning Programs

Wellness program

With our 40 years of combined physical therapy experience Diamond Physical Therapy recognizes the importance of wellness and fitness to our clients. Not only will wellness and fitness help with your recovery and therapy, but it can help prevent common ailments and injuries by improving your balance, cardiovascular system, joint health, flexibility and overall mobility. Being able to conquer the wear-and-tears of life is the first step to growing into your peak physical self.

Invest in health and Fitness

In order to continually improve strength, balance, flexibility and overall fitness we offer a fitness and wellness program. This is great to clients whom will be undergoing a surgery as a preparation to the procedure to maximize their rehabilitation afterwards. With this program clients would work one-on-one with our licensed therapists as we tackle the rehabilitation process. It is important to prepare the body for operation just as much as the repair process.

This concept has been supported most recently by research performed by Dr. Anne Newman, director of the Center for Aging at Pitt. She found that regularly structured exercise allowed even previously sedentary people to improve physical functioning and reduce the chances of future disability. The activity for this research consisted of walking at a moderate intensity for at least 150 minutes a week (That is only 22 minutes a day!) combined with leg stretches, balance exercises and leg strengthening exercises. This study was performed on a group of sedentary people ranging from 70 to 89 years old.

Strength and Conditioning program

Another way Diamond PT and Wellness “invest in fitness and health” of our patients is by offering a more aggressive and personalized strength and conditioning program to those who desire a personalized approach to achieving their wellness goals. We offer options that would allow for either a monthly membership or one-on-one training. These programs would be tailored to your needs and goals. Currently, this program is offered at the Greenburg location with plans to include the Latrobe and Ligonier locations in the near future.
