Neuromuscular Dentistry

Neuromuscular Dentistry is used to treat Temporomandibular Joint Disorders, referred to as TMD and TMJ. Common symptoms include migraines, pain in the jaw, neck and shoulders, a locked jaw, clicking or popping of the jaw and trouble chewing.

Diamond PT works at releasing the stress that is present in the jaw through effective breathing and meditative techniques. Common reasons for TMJ can be high induced stress and neck stiffness. Releasing pressure and creating relaxing techniques aid in recovery.

Due to the inter-relationship of the overall musculoskeletal system, posture, and the bite, the collective efforts of a specialized neuromuscular dentist and physical therapist are necessary to correctly diagnose and treat such disorders. Diamond Physical Therapy works together with Dr. Greg Lane, DMD in treating neuromuscular dentistry disorders such as TMJ/TMD.
